On the first day of November, our canine friends at Acre Dogs received a special visit from a true animal lover, Lisa Simms, the owner of an hacienda in Acre. With a heart full of compassion and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of our furry companions, Lisa made a heartwarming donation of a substantial quantity of toys specifically designed for both medium and small dogs.
The joyous occasion unfolded as Lisa personally delivered the toys to the dogs’ area, taking the time to share the love with the little ones in our care. Witnessing the excitement on their faces as they explored their new playthings was truly a sight to behold. Lisa’s genuine delight in interacting with our four-legged friends resonated with everyone present, creating a memorable experience for both the dogs and the dedicated staff at Acre Dogs.
What makes Lisa’s gesture even more special is her personal connection to the cause. A few years ago, Lisa and her husband Gerry opened their hearts and home to two Acre dogs. The first, Ophelia, was a beloved member of their family who, though no longer with us, is fondly remembered. The second, Tigresa, joined their family as a senior dog, finding a forever home filled with love and care.
Ophelia holds a special place in our hearts, and in a touching tribute, we honored her on the past Day of the Dead at the Acre Dogs altar.
Lisa and Gerry Simms are more than just donors; they are true dog lovers who, if given the chance, would take each and every one of our dogs home. Their dedication to the cause goes beyond material donations, extending to the time and attention they willingly share with our furry residents.
